Artistic Lineage & Training
Gong studied under Chen Aiming, one of China’s leading ceramic art masters, from whom he learned traditional hand-throwing techniques, ceramic form design, and the distinctive “carving-knife” decorative method.
He was selected by the local government in 2013 to pursue advanced studies at Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute and Quanzhou Arts & Crafts Institute, further refining his creative foundations.
Achievements & Recognition
Gong’s works have received numerous national, provincial, and municipal gold and silver awards, with many pieces collected permanently by museums in China and abroad. He has also represented Longquan celadon in multiple international cultural exchange programs.
Artistic Focus
Gong is particularly known for his research on glaze formulation, with a deep commitment to combining raw-ore glazes with the unique characteristics of local kilns.
In 2019, he successfully developed the groundbreaking “Qingmu Series”, merging the iconic Longquan celadon Meizi-green glaze with the aesthetic language of Jizhou ware. Through firing at 1300°C, he achieved the rare effect of preserving natural leaf textures on the ceramic surface—a technique noted for its extremely low yield and high difficulty.
His work embodies a striking contrast:
Black glaze × Celadon glaze
Simplicity × Elegance
In 2021, his innovative technique was granted an invention patent, earning widespread acclaim from collectors and the marketplace.

Artistic Style
Gong Zuoli’s creations balance tradition and innovation. His pieces are characterized by:
- Integration of Longquan celadon with Jizhou ware aesthetics
- High-temperature preservation of natural botanical textures
- Raw-ore glaze chemistry research
- Rich contrasts between light and dark, smooth and textured
- A refined, contemporary interpretation of classical celadon
