Artist Bio — Lei Aiguo

Lei Aiguo, born in 1996 in Longquan, Zhejiang Province, is a rising talent in contemporary Longquan celadon. He studied under Chen Aiming, a Master of Chinese Ceramic Art, and currently holds the titles of Assistant Arts and Crafts Master and Intermediate Technician.

With a solid foundation in traditional Longquan celadon craftsmanship, Lei Aiguo has quickly distinguished himself through his precise technique, refined aesthetics, and innovative interpretation of classic ceramic forms.

In 2015, he won the Gold Award at the 5th Fujian Ceramic Art and Design Innovation Competition, marking the beginning of his public artistic recognition. In 2018, his celadon teapot work was permanently collected by the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in the United Kingdom—an important milestone that brought international attention to his artistry.

In 2023, he received the Bronze Award at the 6th Zhejiang Celadon Innovation Design Competition, further affirming his creativity and craftsmanship. Most recently, in 2025, his representative work "Ten Thousand Forms" (《万相》) won the Gold Award at the Zhejiang Arts and Crafts Fine Creation Competition, showcasing his continual evolution as an artist and his growing influence in the field.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese aesthetics while embracing contemporary design sensibilities, Lei Aiguo’s works embody purity, balance, and quiet strength. His celadon pieces reflect a deep respect for heritage combined with an eagerness to explore new possibilities within Longquan’s thousand-year-old ceramic tradition.
