Gong Zuoli's Works
Gong Zuoli, Senior Craft Artist, Lishui City Craft Art Master, Lishui Green Valley New Talent (Lishui Three Treasures), was born in 1987 in Longquan, Zhejiang. He graduated from the Ceramic Art and Design program at Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute and is the founder of the "Pinzi Kiln" brand. Gong is a member of the Zhejiang Folk Artists Association, a council member of the Longquan New Generation Entrepreneurs Association, a member of the Lishui Craft Art Association, and a member of the Longquan Celadon Industry Association.
He was mentored by Chinese Ceramic Art Master Chen Aiming and learned various techniques such as hand-throwing, ceramic art form design, and decoration techniques like carved patterns on celadon pottery. In 2013, he was selected by the government to study Ceramic Art and Design at both Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute and Quanzhou Academy of Arts and Crafts. His designs and works have won numerous national and provincial gold and silver awards, and several of his pieces have been permanently collected by museums both domestically and internationally. He has also been invited to participate in cultural exchanges abroad multiple times.
Gong is particularly skilled in glaze formula research, focusing on the interaction between raw mineral glazes and kilns. In 2019, he successfully developed the "Qingmu Series" after several experimental firings. His works feature distinctive characteristics, blending Longquan kiln’s plum green glaze with the Jizhou kiln’s design, and perfectly preserving the texture of tree leaves at a firing temperature of 1300°C. This technique is difficult, with a low success rate, making each firing a challenge. The perfect combination of black glaze and celadon glaze—one plain, one elegant—won him a patent for invention in 2021 and widespread market recognition.
